Areas We Serve
Orthopedic care for patients across Hawai‘i
Pacific Bone & Joint brings orthopedic care together in one coordinated system, from diagnosis and physical therapy to injections, advanced procedures, surgery, and recovery. Patients come to our four clinics from every part of O‘ahu, from across Hawai‘i Island, and from the neighbor islands.
Not every orthopedic problem needs surgery. The practice is set up to move you through the right level of care instead of pushing everyone toward one treatment.

Not every service is available at every location. Surgery takes place at partner facilities: The Queen’s Medical Center (robotic knee) and Adventist Health Castle (robotic knee) on O‘ahu, and Hilo Community Surgery Center (robotic hip and knee, ACL) on Hawai‘i Island.

Why patients travel to Pacific Bone & Joint
One practice for every stage of orthopedic care
For many patients, the reason to make the trip is not one specific injection or procedure. It is having the problem evaluated by a practice that can offer physical therapy, bracing, injections, ultrasound-guided care, cartilage restoration, sports surgery, joint replacement, revision surgery, and rehabilitation when each is appropriate.
Patients who begin with nonsurgical care do not have to find a new organization if surgery becomes appropriate later, and patients who have surgery recover with a rehabilitation plan built by the same team.
Common Questions
Before you make the trip
Which clinic is closest to me?+
Pacific Bone & Joint has four clinics: Honolulu (Ala Moana) and Waipahu/Kunia on O‘ahu, and Hilo and Kona on Hawai‘i Island. Our area pages explain which of those clinics is closest to you and how long the trip usually takes.
Are all services available at every clinic?+
No. In-house physical therapy and Wiki Wiki walk-in orthopedic urgent care are available at the Honolulu and Waipahu/Kunia clinics. On Hawai‘i Island, rehabilitation is coordinated with local physical therapy partners, and the Kona clinic is open by appointment only. The table on this page shows what is available where.
Who will I see at Pacific Bone & Joint?+
Pacific Bone & Joint is a team-based orthopedic practice. Depending on the reason for your visit, your care may involve an orthopedic surgeon, a physician assistant, a physical therapist, imaging staff, or another member of the orthopedic team. Surgical decisions and operations are handled by the surgeon. Other parts of your evaluation, rehabilitation, follow-up, injections, and recovery may involve other clinicians.
Can I be evaluated and receive PRP on the same day?+
Sometimes. If you are traveling from another part of Hawai‘i, an early appointment and sending your imaging ahead of time may make same-day evaluation and PRP treatment possible when it is clinically appropriate. Treatment is never guaranteed before the evaluation, because the first step is deciding whether PRP is actually the right treatment.
Can I send my X-rays or MRI before my visit?+
Yes. You can upload outside imaging through our secure image-upload portal before your appointment, or bring the images on a disc with the radiology report. Reviewing imaging ahead of time often saves a trip.
Do I need a referral?+
Many plans do not require one. Ohana Medicare, AlohaCare, QUEST, VA, and TRICARE Prime require a referral or prior authorization before the visit. Hawai‘i also allows direct access to physical therapy without a physician referral, although some plans still require one for coverage.
