Orthopedic Care for Central O‘ahu
Orthopedic Care for Patients in Central O‘ahu, Hawai‘i
Central O‘ahu, from Mililani and Waipi‘o up to Wahiawā, Schofield Barracks, and Wheeler, is home to many young families, military households, and active adults. For most of the area, the closest Pacific Bone & Joint office is our Waipahu/Kunia clinic in the Kunia Shopping Center, a short drive down H-2 or Kunia Road.
At that clinic you can get an orthopedic evaluation, in-office X-ray and ultrasound, injections, physical therapy with the PB&J team, and walk-in care for new injuries through Wiki Wiki Orthopedics. If you need surgery, such as ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, fracture fixation, or hip or knee replacement, planning starts at the same clinic, and rehab can continue there afterward.

Complete Orthopedic Care
Orthopedic care in one coordinated system
From diagnosis and physical therapy to injections, advanced procedures, surgery, and recovery. Not every orthopedic problem needs surgery, and Pacific Bone & Joint is set up to move you through the right level of care instead of pushing everyone toward one treatment.
- 1EvaluationA focused history and exam to find the source of the problem, not just the location of the pain.

- 5Office proceduresUltrasound-guided carpal tunnel release and trigger finger release, with local anesthesia and no hospital stay for most patients.
- 6SurgeryArthroscopy, ACL and meniscus surgery, cartilage restoration, fracture care, and hip and knee replacement, including revision.
- 7RecoveryPost-operative protocols, bracing, and follow-up coordinated by the same team that planned your care.
Who will I see?
Pacific Bone & Joint is a team-based orthopedic practice. Depending on the reason for your visit, your care may involve an orthopedic surgeon, a physician assistant, a physical therapist, imaging staff, or another member of the orthopedic team. Surgical decisions and operations are handled by the surgeon. Other parts of your evaluation, rehabilitation, follow-up, injections, and recovery may involve other clinicians.
Common Conditions We Treat
What brings Central O‘ahu patients to us
ACL and meniscus tears
From soccer, basketball, football, and military training, with surgical and nonsurgical options.

Shin, foot, and hip pain in runners and service members who increase training quickly.
Shoulder dislocations and rotator cuff problems
Most shoulder care here is nonsurgical. Rehabilitation and imaging guide the next step.
Hip and knee arthritis
From physical therapy and injections to robotic-assisted joint replacement.
Recurrent ankle sprains
Bracing and balance training for ankles that keep rolling.
Hand and wrist problems
Fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, and trigger finger.
Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation
Orthopedics and physical therapy, coordinated
Many orthopedic conditions improve without surgery. PB&J Physical Therapy works inside our Honolulu and Waipahu/Kunia clinics, so you can move from diagnosis to rehabilitation with one coordinated plan, and your therapist and orthopedic provider can talk about your progress.
You do not need to be a surgical patient to do therapy with us, and Hawai‘i allows direct access to physical therapy without a physician referral (some plans still require one for coverage). Not every patient needs therapy; it is recommended when it fits the problem.

Patient Reviews
What patients say
4.9 average across 504 ratings on 8 review sites
“I highly recommend my physical therapist, Riana Esmena-Faria. I have been dealing with sciatica, lower back pain, and knee pain, and the treatment I have received from Riana has made a major difference. She is incredibly skilled, attentive, and effective. If you are looking for an amazing PT, ask for Riana.”

“The therapists carefully explain what each exercise is for and how it helps my recovery, which makes a big difference and keeps me motivated. I really appreciate how knowledgeable and supportive they are. I highly recommend Dr. Morton and the team to anyone with similar knee issues or anyone looking for a great rehabilitation facility after surgery.”

Common Questions
Questions from Central O‘ahu patients
Do I need a referral if I have TRICARE?+
TRICARE Prime and VA patients usually need a referral or authorization before the visit. Many other plans do not require a referral. Our team can help you check before you schedule.
Can I have ACL surgery and rehab without going into town?+
Much of it, yes. Your evaluation, surgical planning, follow-up, and physical therapy can all happen at the Waipahu/Kunia clinic. The surgery itself takes place at an O‘ahu surgical facility.
Do you have walk-in care for sports injuries?+
Yes. Wiki Wiki Orthopedics at the Waipahu/Kunia clinic accepts walk-ins for new injuries such as sprains, suspected fractures, and knee and shoulder injuries.
Do you treat stress fractures?+
Yes. Treatment usually includes imaging, a period of protected activity, and a gradual return to running or training. If stress fractures keep happening, we also look at bone health and training load.
Can I do physical therapy at Pacific Bone & Joint if I don’t need surgery?+
Yes. Many PB&J Physical Therapy patients never have surgery. Therapy is often the main treatment for sprains, tendon problems, arthritis, and back-to-sport training.
What should I bring to my first visit?+
A photo ID, your insurance card, a referral if your plan requires one, a list of medications, and any previous imaging on disc with the reports. If you have had surgery on the same area, bring the operative report if you can.
